When you are living in a tropical country sometimes when it rains it pours. I have worked for more than eight years in the BPO industry, and I have seen the worst rainy days. Lately, rains are oftentimes accompanied by the terrible flood and the annoying traffic congestion. And you can’t help but end up: wet, stranded, late for work, absent and worst of all, sick.
Earlier I heard the raindrops on my roof. Before it terrifies me when I hear those little drops pounding on my roof. It is a signal to get up and prepare early for work, wear something waterproof and hope that the roads will not be flooded. But then I ask myself, why am I worrying now? It is just an old habit that kicks in whenever I hear the rain.
Before, I have to allocate several hours of travel time when it is raining, 3 hours the minimum. But this time, I went back to sleep because I don't have to even leave my house to go to work since I have a home-based job. This is one of the perks of having a home-based job in the Philippines. I can now work in the comfort of my house and leave the rain outside of my door. In fact, I don't even have to open my door. All I have to do is to open my laptop sit somewhere comfortable, maybe in the kitchen or my home office or even in my bedroom and start working. I can even eat a home cooked meal, which is way healthier than the processed food that I was eating before in the fast foods when I was always on the run, due to my hectic schedule caused by the terrible traffic situation in Metro, Manila.
Working from home has greatly improved my life, that I am able to spend quality time with friends and family. Things that I can only do once or twice a week before. But now I can do it every day, indeed, "there is no place like home.” And with the extra time that I have, I am able to have some recreation and even exercise regularly, things that I haven’t done for years. I was able to gain work and life balance and live a healthier life.
Currently, I am working as a home-based online SEO Associate for an innovative company that incorporates text messaging feature to landline numbers. I was given a chance to open up my potential and learn their culture of success.
In a short span of time, I have learned so much and I have done things that I never thought I can do. And unlike in the BPO where I experienced several account end of life. I was offered a long-term home-based career. With the best people to help you attain mastery of your role in the company.
So instead of getting soaked outside, I am now "working at home on a rainy day."
Why wait outside? Come in and join our team!
